Since October of 2002, the Project Development Committee has been organizing a series of workshops to develop its vision and understanding of its role in the current economic crisis. The other aspect was for the sisters to share their talents and experiences and to assist each other to find the best ways to end poverty and promote economic justice.
Three times a year, the Alois Haene Memorial Trust Oversight Committee meets where members share and put their experiences together as well as their projects on the table to benefit from the critical wisdom and experiences of others. The workshops and meetings also serve as a threshing floor to pull out the issues that require most critical attention from the other members and experienced representatives from other project groups. Since then, the committee has made a serious commitment to viable projects for poverty reduction. The Alois Haene Memorial Trust is coordinating this program with the Board of Directors and the project implementers. The Trust will ensure that the existing projects are empowered and facilitate the formation of identified new projects.
Its source of funding for its projects is through individual contributions, donations, fundraising and subscriptions from its projects. It depends entirely on donations. Other than essential operating and office expenses, all the money received from donations go to directly for assisting community based projects and the vulnerable groups in communities that are deprived. The SJI Sisters provide the rent-free facilities for the office and some of its personnel. Donations can be directed to the Alois Haene Memorial Trust at the address listed on the home page.
